Inquiry Based Learning (IBL)

Learning How To Learn

The power of IBL teaching methods are well documented and our use of IBL as the pedagogy for delivering our Awards has  had remarkable results.

Students feel more confident, they are able to collaborate on work easily and develop communication skills that are well ahead of their peers.

This makes our Awards an essential part of student leadership development in your school.

Project Based Learning (PBL)

Practical and Experiential

Each Award has a focus on developing student skills. Students work through modules that encourage practice and experience at every stage of learning.

For example, in the very 1st module of Pitch Perfect, our public speaking Award, students will play a speaking game to encourage them to get used to speaking in front of people.

Small simple increments in experiential learning like this builds a students confidence. Bite sized chunks that encourage even the most shy to have a go.

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

Improved Academic Performance

Well-designed Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) programs measurably improve social skills, behaviour and academic outcomes.

A large meta-analysis of 213 schools (270k+ students) found SEL produced improved social/emotional skills and an ≈11 percentile gain on achievement.

All schools using our Awards will give their students this unquestionable advantage.

Your framework, activities, rubrics for assessment and lesson plans are all included in each Award.

Your students will not only gain valuable life-skills and social skills but have a greater improvement in their academic outcomes also.

The Advantage of Leadership

Young Speaker Presenting

Not Stating The Obvious

Leadership skills develop higher order thinking in students.

These programs empower students to take an active role in their school community, encouraging them to lead by example, make positive contributions, and work collaboratively with peers and teachers.

Beyond building personal growth, our student leadership programs also foster a sense of belonging and pride in the school, helping to create a more supportive, motivated, and inclusive learning environment.

Reviews

Our Academic Leaders were involved in the Pitch Perfect public speaking workshop with Young Leaders Academy. They learnt breathing strategies, strategies for structuring a speech, tips for keeping their audience engaged, as well as getting involved in a variety of different speaking games. It was great to see our students talking with passion and confidence about a variety of topics and supporting their peers through any nerves using the strategies that they had learnt. It was great to see both quiet and confident boys having a go at public speaking in front of the group, and hopefully you will see the boys contributing and presenting in class with greater self- awareness in the coming weeks.

Are we really giving children the 'how to' in public speaking? How to use their voice, use gestures, tone of voice, pitch and pace. Are they (children) being clear, concise and coherent in their communication? We have been using the Pitch Perfect program since last year and continue this year with 30+ students. It gives us a clear framework to work to.

The ‘Reach for the Stars’ sports leader award has transformed our playground. Before the Sports Leaders were at odds on what to do. Now they’re excited and have a whole library of activities and the playground is buzzing because of it.
